AMREF Flying Doctors Air Ambulance Service is the largest air ambulance service in sub Saharan Africa and evacuates more than 1,200 patients annually. AMREF Flying Doctors formed a close working relationship with Phoenix Aviation more than a decade ago and together we have created a unique and extraordinary service that is used by many of the world’s leading Insurance and Assistance companies.
This world-class air ambulance partnership was the first non-European, non-US air rescue provider to receive full accreditation by EURAMI (European Aeromedical Institute), one of the only two organisations in the world who can officially assess standards of service provided by Air Ambulance organisations. AMREF Flying Doctors were recently awarded the International Travel Insurance Journal’s 2011 Air Ambulance Provider of the Year award. Jointly, Phoenix Aviation and AMREF Flying Doctors bring operational and safety procedures together to ensure the best possible environment for patients and clients.
Phoenix Aviation has always been community minded and sees itself as having a direct responsibility to provide time, aid and assistance to those in need. This has encompassed visiting Sick Children’s Wards at local hospitals; giving underprivileged children their first ride in an aircraft; providing aircraft to rescue and assist local wildlife; and providing food security to communities during times of famine.
